About the Artist
Frances Liz is a watercolour artist based in Chester, England, born and raised on the Isle of Man. She works from her studio at home but takes every opportunity to paint outside.
Frances has always been creative and follows in the footsteps of her father who painted in watercolours, as well as her sisters and various aunties and uncles. In her words, she's 'drawn to watercolour because it continues to challenge and humble' her.
Painting comes from an urge to get something out through colour and water. There are no rules, but watercolour asks for honesty and sponteneity. You can't hide your thinking.

The Practice
Frances works primarily on Arches and Saunders Waterford cold-pressed paper, using a restricted palette of quality single-pigment paints. The process often involves loose, rough sketches and practice pieces before getting into the final draft.
